Can you please tell me what the picture of the guy holding the cheese is from?
Hi Peter! That would be telling, my friend! :)best,JKM
I really have no excuse, especially since I live in the same county as this historic rock formation, but I've never visited it. I think this post is going to force me to undo that oversight, John. Thanks for this.
That's hysterical. Is a geographic rock formation a first for the Cult TV Faces feature? It's funny, but a terrific idea.It really speaks volumes about how a set or location can undergo minor touches, lighting, or other transformations to give us a completely new look or create a different world. Boy that's great. We clearly have Star Trek and Star Trek: Voyager in there, but I can't wait to get further details on all of these images.
Le0pard13: If you go, take pictures! I want to see. (I've never been able to get these rocks myself, but I've always wondered what it would be like to climb that steep embankment Kirk ran up in a famous ST episode…)Sci-Fi Fanatic: This is a first for the "Cult TV Faces of," indeed. Never had a rock-face before! But it was too good to resist, especially because the formation is so ubiquitous, with just the lighting and other minor changes you mention! I mean, these rocks have stood in for innumerable planets over the decades, just a few of which are featured here. And yep, Star Trek and ST Voyager are represented here.best to you both,John
Rockface- that's good. Maybe they should call it Cliff.
Sci-Fi Fanatic:Cliff was a little "stoned" when he took these pictures. :)best,JKM
Um…where's the Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey picture??????2)Arena; TOS7)Who Watches the Watchers, TNG8)Stargate?9)'The episode that probably sucks', VoyagerThat's all I got.
I think #1 is from The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone, but I don't remember the episode…
#4 is from Buck Rogers (the same one with Mark Lenard as the ambassador who could take off his head)#5 is from "Logan's Run"
Grayson: Yep. It's the Outer Limits! But which episode, my friend? And Howard: You are circling these answeres, but had 'em reversed. #4 is from Logan's Run (but which ep?) and # 5 is from Buck Rogers: Flight of the War Witch Part I.Any other takers? Come on…bring it on! :)Best to everyone,JKM
tdraicer:The "Cheese guy" is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I believe from the Season 4 closer (and dream episode) "Restless."
Tdracier:Yep, the cheese guy is from Buffy, "Restless!" Well done.
3) Just a guess, "The Invaders" TV show? And was 1) the much talked about lately here Zanti Misfits ep?
Indianhoop:You nailed it! In both cases.#1 is "The Zanti Misfits" from the Outer Limits, and # 3 is The Invaders ("The Leeches" from Season 1).Very well done. I'll publish the full list of episodes and titles at the end of the weekend, to give anyone else who wants to time to guess the rest…best,JKM
John, It's amazing how many movies and TV shows this has been in. In fact the other day while watching The Universe on the History Channel Vasquez Rocks was used as a backdrop for interviews of scientists.Off topic but I don't know if you saw this yet:http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/08/twin-peaks/
I never knew they had been used so often. You have an eye for detail. I have one too, but I put it in a box somewhere and can't for the death of me remember where. Hope I didn't eat it, those late nite binges get me every time! Dreaded DreamsPetunia Scareum
In our house,we call it the Gorn Rock, for obvious reason, used everywhere from Wesyerns to sci fi series.
In our house,we call it the Gorn Rock, for obvious reasons,it where we most remember it from, even though it's used from anything like westerns to action tv series and commercials
